The project involved designing and developing an interactive data dashboard for the David Lynch Collection auction, with the aim of transforming static auction results into an open, searchable and visual experience. The challenge was to present dense data in a way that felt intuitive, engaging and respectful of the atmosphere associated with David Lynch’s work. This was a personal project that combined my interest in film, digital tools and visual thinking.

Problem & Assignment
The main issue addressed was the lack of accessibility in how auction data is typically presented with limited filters and sorting functions. The goal was to give visitors a clear way to explore, compare and find relationships between categories, sold prices and estimated values without losing the narrative connection to the collection.
Design Approach
My approach began with exploring how best to combine data and interaction in a simple, themed dashboard. Using Streamlit, Pandas, Plotly and AgGrid, I designed views that encourage curiosity and easy filtering. The design choices focused on clear structure, interactive charts and a darker palette to echo Lynch’s cinematic style.
Process & Solution
The final dashboard includes an interactive data table with images, links and category filters, a dynamic treemap showing how categories contribute to total sales, and a scatter plot comparing estimates with final prices. An additional insights module highlights top and lowest results, and a custom About page sets the context. The entire tool was developed in Python and deployed as a self-contained web app.
Live App
The project is available as a fully deployable Streamlit web app for open exploration.
